Poland’s Minimum Wage Set to Approach 5,000 PLN in 2027
New developments have emerged regarding Poland’s minimum wage, a topic that affects millions of employees across the country. The Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy has presented its official proposal for increasing the minimum wage in 2027.
According to the proposal, the monthly gross minimum wage would rise from 4,806 PLN to 4,986 PLN. At the same time, the minimum hourly rate is expected to increase from 31.40 PLN to 32.60 PLN.
Proposed increase of 3.7%
The ministry’s proposal represents an increase of approximately 3.7% in the monthly minimum wage. If approved, Poland’s minimum wage will come very close to the symbolic threshold of 5,000 PLN per month.
Before the new rates can take effect, the proposal must be reviewed by the Social Dialogue Council and approved by the Council of Ministers.
Government to make the final decision
Under Polish law, the government submits its minimum wage proposal to the Social Dialogue Council each year. If representatives of employers and employees fail to reach an agreement, the final decision is made by the Council of Ministers.
As a result, the figures announced by the ministry are not yet final but currently represent the government’s official proposal.
Significant growth in recent years
Poland’s minimum wage has increased considerably over the past few years. In 2025, the gross monthly minimum wage stood at 4,666 PLN. It was then raised to 4,806 PLN in 2026, and the latest proposal would bring it to 4,986 PLN in 2027.
The minimum hourly rate has followed a similar trend, increasing from 30.20 PLN to 31.40 PLN, with a further rise to 32.60 PLN now under consideration.
Around 3 million workers affected
Approximately 3 million workers in Poland earn either the minimum wage or the statutory minimum hourly rate. For this reason, any increase has a significant impact on household incomes and purchasing power.
However, economists note that the real effect of wage increases will largely depend on inflation and future living costs.
