Uzbekistan sees 15.3% increase in tourist arrivals

Uzbekistan welcomed a total of 4.2mn foreign tourists between January and July 2024 up by 15.3% . The country attracted 562,500 more visitors than in 2023 reflecting the growing appeal of Uzbekistan as a travel destination.

The majority of tourists came from neighboring countries, with the Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan leading the numbers with 1.2mn visitors each. Kazakhstan followed with 845,800 tourists, while Russia contributed 442,100. Other notable contributors included Turkmenistan with 83,700 visitors, Turkey with 62,000, China with 35,500 and India with 33,300 tourists. Additionally, South Korea and Italy had 23,900 and 19,500 visitors respectively with another 211,200 tourists arriving from various other countries. Uzbekistan is planning to diversify its tourism sector by 2025 through new initiatives such as geological, industrial, scientific and military tourism.
