Opening of the Azerbaijan Cultural House in Prague

A Historic Milestone for the Azerbaijani Community in the Czech Republic

On November 6th, on the eve of the momentous Day of Victory, a landmark event took place in the cultural and public life of Azerbaijanis living in the Czech Republic. The opening of the Azerbaijan Cultural House in Prague, the cultural capital of Europe, marked a significant moment in the relationship between both the Czech and Azerbaijani peoples.

Official part began with the speech Mr.Fuad Muradov, Chairman of the State Committee on work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan, then proceeded by the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to the Czech Republic, Adish Mammadov.

Former Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Azerbaijan, Milan Ekert, expressed his great joy over this historic event, which will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on the cultural life of the Czech Republic – an event he had long awaited. Mr.Ekert also extended heartfelt congratulations to all Azerbaijanis in anticipation of the upcoming great Victory Day holiday, which marks the restoration of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity.

Warm congratulations on the opening of the Cultural House were also expressed by renowned Czech journalist Milan Syruček and Pavel Obrcian, the head of the Slovak community in the National Minorities House in Prague.

As part of the opening of Azerbaijan Cultural House, an exhibition was held featuring five Azerbaijani artists living in Prague: Delyafruz, Ulviya Iman, Vafa Ashumova, Inna Papsheva, and Yusif Jafarov. The vernissage, entitled “We Planted a Pomegranate Branch in the Earth” was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet Nabi Khazri.

Financial Chain Corporation Czechia represented by Teymur Akhundov provided organizational support for the event, including photo and video coverage. The company also set up a bookstand featuring a selection of children’s books written by Bahram Baghirzade, including titles such as “Prague for kids”, “Baku for kids”, “Shusha for kids” and “Christian Churches in Azerbaijan”, all presented in Czech.

The artistic program was further enhanced by piano performance from Lamiya Akhundova, an employee of Financial Chain Corporation Czechia, whose music added an extra layer of elegance to the event.

This event represents not only a celebration of Azerbaijani culture but also a step towards strengthening cultural ties between two countries and furthering the appreciation of Azerbaijan’s rich heritage in the Czech Republic.
