The National Office of Statistics of Georgia (Geostat) published preliminary data, revealing that Georgia’s external merchandise trade hit USD 23.43 billion in 2024, marking an 8% increase.
Primary data from the report are as follows:
- Exports: USD 6.56 billion, up 7.8%.
- Imports: USD 16.87 billion, up 8.1%.
- Trade Deficit: USD 10.31 billion, constituting 44% of total trade turnover.
Such significant growth in exports and imports reflects the country’s steady expansion in trade activities. Nevertheless, a considerable portion of the trade balance consists of a trade deficit, emphasizing the necessity of driving exports and becoming less reliant on imports.
