Deepening of Multifaceted Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan

On June 21 Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan made a two-day state visit to Uzbekistan at the invitation of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic.  The Azerbaijani President was met at the International Airport in Tashkent by Abdullah Aripov, the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan and other officials.

The Presidents of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan discussed the issues of further strengthening the strategic partnership and deepening multifaceted cooperation between the two countries. Bilateral documents in industry, agriculture, transport, energy, science and innovation, tourism and other fields have been signed during the high-level visit.

Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan took part at the opening ceremony of the square located in the densely populated area by Azerbaijanis, in the Mirabad district, where a large memorial complex had been erected to Heydar Aliyev, the national leader of Azerbaijan. Both Presidents addressed the ceremony. Calling the visit historic Sh.Mirziyoyev stated the relations to be taken to a completely different level in the future. I.Aliyev mentioned the results of the visit to be another contribution to strengthening fraternal relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijani President got acquainted with the historical monuments of the city Khiva during the state visit.
