COP29, the 2024 United Nations Climate Change Conference, is taking place from November 11–22 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
This event brings together global leaders, climate experts, and representatives from various sectors to advance efforts to combat climate change. Key issues on the agenda include finalizing a new climate finance target beyond the previous $100 billion goal, operationalizing the Loss and Damage Fund to aid vulnerable countries, and enhancing national climate pledges (Nationally Determined Contributions or NDCs) with a focus on limiting warming to 1.5°C.
Notably, the conference will also address carbon markets and methane reduction, with specific days dedicated to topics such as climate finance, sustainable urbanization, and biodiversity.
