Celebration of the 99th Anniversary of the Turkish Republic in Prague

On October 31, 2022, the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey to Czech Republic organized a reception in Prague, the capital of the country, dedicated to the 99th anniversary of the proclamation of the Turkish Republic, aboard the largest ship of the country, Grand Bohemia. Vaclav Klaus, former President of the Czech Republic, Jaroslav Kurfurst, Deputy Foreign Minister, representatives of Embassies and officials, as well as Teymur Akhundov, Country Manager of the Czech Republic were among the guests invited to the celebration.

The national anthems of the Republic of Turkey and the Czech Republic were performed together by the military band of the Czech Defence Ministry, Feryal Türkoğlu , Director of Ankara State Opera and Ballet and Esra Poyrazoğlu, correpetitor.

 

 

Making an opening speech Egemen Bağış, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to the Czech Republic, greeted the guests and mentioned about Turkey’s efforts to gain a solid place among the democratic and modern nations of the world since its foundation. The Ambassador called a very good coincidence of Czechia’s National Day on October 28 and the Republic Day of Turkey on October 29.

Speaking about the common values shared by Turkey and Czechia,  Mr. Ambassador expressed confidence the relations between the two countries to strengthen in the future.

Expressing his happiness at being a friend of Turkey, Vaclav Klaus, former President of the Czech Republic, noted that it was his first national day celebration on a ship and appreciated the invitation of the Turkish Ambassador.
