5 Key Changes in Polish Migration Law in 2025

1. Poland’s Migration Strategy
A new framework document outlines the directions of migration policy, simplifying employment processes for foreigners in shortage occupations, digitizing legalization procedures, and introducing a cultural knowledge test for obtaining citizenship.

2. New Rules for Employing Foreigners
Changes include shorter processing times for applications, mandatory online submissions, and a shift from civil law contracts to employment contracts to enhance workers’ rights.

3. Changes to the EU Blue Card
Facilitations for highly skilled professionals include the ability to run businesses, flexible employer changes, and short-term mobility within the EU without additional work permits.

4. Online Applications via MOS
The MOS platform will allow fully online submissions for residence and work permits, eliminating paper forms and reducing processing times.

5. Simplified Residency Legalization for Ukrainian Citizens
Ukrainian nationals under temporary protection can apply online for a three-year residence card, provided they meet specific criteria, such as continuous UKR status for at least 365 days and a valid UKR PESEL number.
