Uzbekistan and China Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation with Grant-Funded Projects

On September 8th of this year, a significant meeting took place at the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan. Deputy Minister Sarvar Khamidov met with Deputy Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, Mr. Dan Bozhi, who was leading a delegation from China during his visit to Uzbekistan. This meeting, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan, aimed to discuss the progress of projects funded by grants from the Chinese government and explore opportunities for expanding bilateral financial and technical cooperation.

The discussions during the meeting revolved around the successful implementation of projects financed through grants from the People’s Republic of China. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the progress made in these projects. Moreover, the talks delved into the future prospects of enhancing bilateral financial and technical collaboration.

China highly commended the series of reforms undertaken by Uzbekistan in recent years and expressed its eagerness to intensify collaboration in executing socially significant projects.

In the concluding segment of the meeting, a significant milestone was achieved with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the implementation of priority grant-funded projects. This MoU outlines plans for the execution of 14 projects, with a combined value exceeding 190 million dollars. These projects span various sectors crucial for the development of Uzbekistan, including agriculture, water management, healthcare, education, and institutional development.

This monumental step in bilateral cooperation not only signifies the strengthening of ties between Uzbekistan and China but also holds the promise of transformative projects that will contribute significantly to the socio-economic development of Uzbekistan.
