Social leave is an employee’s release from work for a certain period in order to create favorable conditions for maternity, screening tests, childcare, in-service education and for other social purposes. Under article 87 of the Labor Code, employees are entitled to the following types of social leave:
- leave without pay;
- study leave;
- leave in connection with pregnancy and childbirth, adoption of a newborn child;
- leave without pay to care for a child up to the age of three years;
- leave for screening tests for a maximum of three working days within one year;
- three working days of medical leave to register for pregnancy up to 12 weeks of pregnancy.
It should be noted that the period of being on social leave is counted in the employment record, unless otherwise provided for by the laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
