Trilateral Meeting of Azerbaijani, Turkish and Kazakhstani Ministers

On June 27, 2022, the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku hosted a Trilateral Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Transport of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Turkey, the aim of which was to strengthen the regional ties based on already existing beneficial cooperation among these countries and improve transport communications between Europe and Asia. The Foreign and Transport Ministers of the states adopted the Baku Declaration at the end of the first trilateral meeting.

The parties emphasized the importance of the increasing potential of the three countries and the necessity of involving additional volume to the corridor “East-West”-Middle during discussions.
In supporting projects aimed at digitization of the corridor, the parties expressed willingness and readiness to adopt the agreed and harmonized tariff policy. Besides, the Ministers stated transit cargo clearance to be a top priority on the Trans-Caspian international transit route.

Jeyhun Bayramov, Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan noted the importance of the first meeting of Foreign and Transport Ministers and stated it provides an opportunity for further expansion of cooperation in the fields of transport and communication among the three countries.
Movlut Chavushoghlu, Turkish Foreign Minister, said the trilateral meeting to create new opportunities for developing relations between Azerbaijan, Turkey and Kazakhstan.
Mukhtara Tleuberdu, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan stated all parties express willingness to ensure constant growth of mutual trade volumes, and diversification of its structure by involving commercially successful trade flow of the products of the three countries. The Minister stated the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TMTC) to have very important value for increasing the transit potential of Kazakhstan.
Mentioning the importance of the Zangazur Corridor, as a part of the Middle Corridor, the parties stated its potential to increase better connectivity within the Trans-Caspian International East-West Middle Corridor during the meeting.
The next trilateral meeting of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkey has been agreed to be held in Kazakhstan.
