As of January 1, 2026, in accordance with the Law of Georgia “On Tourism,” a tourist entering the territory of Georgia is required to possess a health and accident insurance policy in either physical or electronic form, in Georgian or English.
The insured amount under the policy must be no less than 30,000 GEL. The policy may be issued by either a Georgian or a foreign insurance company.
The obligation to hold an insurance policy does not apply to the following persons:
- holders of diplomatic or special visas;
- holders of diplomatic, official, service, or special passports;
- accredited staff members of diplomatic missions, consular offices, and representations of international organizations in Georgia, as well as equivalent representations, and accredited family members of such staff;
- persons whose entry into Georgia is provided for under international agreements or treaties;
- drivers involved in international road freight transportation and passenger transport.
