The period of Consumer Price Index (TÜFE) adjustments has begun for residential rent increases

FCHAIN Türkiye Office informs:

The 25% cap on residential rent increases, which has been in place for the past two years, has come to an end. Starting with the new period, rent increases will be determined according to the Consumer Price Index (TÜFE) rate.

The 25% maximum increase limit imposed on residential rents as part of inflation control measures in 2022 expired on Monday, July 1st. From July 2024 onwards, rent increases will be determined based on the 12-month average Consumer Price Index (TÜFE), as was the practice before.

Landlords will not be able to exceed the upper limit set according to the average TÜFE. Tenants whose rent increase period falls before July will not be subject to any additional increase.

The rent increase rate for July will be announced based on the inflation rate for June, which was reported at an average of 62.51% for the past 12 months in May.
