What common tax mistakes are made when filing returns and what is in-house audit?

It is no secret that it is quite difficult to fill out tax returns even for an experienced accountant without certain skills and knowledge in the field of taxation and tax calculation. Errors in declarations are returned in the form of in-house audit notifications from the tax office, which must be corrected in a fairly short time. And if the work process is already in a rush, then any notification for past periods becomes just a disaster for the company.

List of the most common mistakes made by taxpayers is below.

Incorrect completion and issuance of electronic invoices (ESF):

  • erroneous indication of foreign currency codes;
  • incorrect reflection of turnovers for the sale of goods, works and services;
  • the category of supplier and buyer of goods, works and services (forwarder, lessor and other categories) is not indicated.

Incorrect completion and failure to submit tax returns:

  • arithmetic errors when filling out the declaration;
  • filling in and sending zero or empty declarations;
  • double sending of identical declarations;

incorrect transfer of data from declarations of previous years (remains of goods, losses, value balance of groups and subgroups)

Violation of the procedure for using a cash register when making cash settlements:

  • failure to withdraw cashier’s checks when selling goods, works, services;
  • knocking out checks with erroneous amounts;
  • non-registration of returns on checks.

Thus, the number of in-house audit notifications sent to taxpayers depends on the observance of simple rules for filling out the ESF, the correct and complete reflection of all the necessary data in tax reporting. Such notices may be sent within the statute of limitations. In-house audit is based on the analysis and comparison of various data sources with information reflected in tax declarations

In this regard, the State Revenue Committee recommends that taxpayers be careful when declaring their tax liabilities. To date, the tax authorities are increasingly using remote control measures, one of which is in-house audit.
