Georgia Reports Foreign Direct Investment Trends

Preliminary data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia reveals a notable shift in Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) during the third quarter of 2023. The FDI into Georgia experienced a decline of 61.5%, amounting to $316 million USD compared to the corresponding period last year.

Simultaneously, the registered capital surged by 2.5 times, reaching $590.3 million USD, while reinvestment volume decreased by 30%, reaching $329.2 million USD.

Leading the pack in investment volume are the United States, contributing 16.43% to the total FDI, followed by the United Kingdom (14.5%), Netherlands (14.3%), Turkey (7.40%), and China (6.1%). The top five investing countries collectively accounted for 58.7% of the overall investment volume.

Breaking down the sectors, the third quarter of 2023 saw the most substantial foreign investments in finance and insurance (25.4%), transportation (19.6%), information and communication technologies (13.0%), energy (10.0%), and the sector of arts, entertainment, and recreation (9.4%).
