Georgia Hosted 5.4 Million International Travellers in 2022

Despite being a relatively small country, Georgia can attract tourists from all over the world with its breathtaking landscape, the Black Sea beaches, the high Caucasus and lower mountains, extraordinary caves, green valleys, and beautiful and ecologically friendly environment. The country is not expensive and is one of the cheapest in Europe.

According to the National Administration of Tourism, the number of international tourists who visited Georgia was 5 426 903 in 2022, which was 188.5% more than in 2021 (3 652 949).

Georgia earned $3.5 billion from international tourism last year, i.e., a 182% increase compared to 2021. The country received a record number of international visitors, totalling 9.4 million.

The tourism sector suffered due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but it started to recover in 2021 and 2022, and the number of international visitors recovered by 71.9% in 2022.

Tourism has a lot of benefits for all countries. It strengthens the local economy, creates job opportunities, reduces poverty, and preserves wildlife and heritage. Offering beach, cultural, eco, medical, and wildlife tourism, Georgia’s geographic, climatic, and environmental characteristics attract foreign visitors.

Inflation is a big problem in the world. With cheap prices, good services, and beautiful nature, Georgia attracts tourists, and their number is increasing every passing year.
