Flower imports increased by 10.6%. According to data from Geostat, in 2023, Georgia imported 1,718 tons of flowers, with a total value exceeding 5.1 million USD. In 2024, the import of 1,901 tons of flowers reached a value of 11.4 million USD.
In addition to the increase in the volume of imports, prices have also risen. For example, in 2023, the import price for 1 kg of flowers, excluding taxes, was 2.98 USD, while in 2024, the price rose to 6 USD per kg. The data shows that the import price of flowers to the country nearly doubled.
In 2024, flower imports to Georgia came from the following top 5 countries:
- Ecuador – 504 tons (4.05 million USD);
- Türkiye – 442 tons (973 thousand USD);
- Kenya – 128 tons (1.09 million USD);
- Netherlands – 116 tons (1.57 million USD).
It is also worth noting that last year, the most expensive flower imports came from the Netherlands, with the average price per kilogram (excluding taxes) reaching 13.7 USD.
