EU-Azerbaijan Business Forum in Baku

EU-Azerbaijan Business Forum was held by the EU Delegation in Azerbaijan on May 17, at Fairmont Hotel, Flame Towers in Baku.  The Business Forum was attended by European companies operating in Azerbaijan, including COWI Belgium, the Azerbaijan-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Italy-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce, InvestBaku and AZPROMO.

It is an annual event organized by the EU Delegation serving for expanding economic cooperation between the EU and Azerbaijan, promoting awareness of the business environment and investment opportunities, fostering public-private dialogue and creating direct contacts for business partnership, advancing and developing networking between businesses in the country.

Peter Michalko, Head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan was the first to address Business Forum. He stated Azerbaijan to be an attractive business partner for the EU, as well as evaluated the efforts and measures of the Azerbaijani government in developing business sector in the country. Mr. Michalko mentioned the EU to continue support to 25 000 small and medium-sized enterprises in the country and called on the EU member-state companies to invest in Azerbaijan.

Speaking at the event Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Economy of the Azerbaijan Republic stated the trade with the EU to reach a record level. M.Jabbarov mentioned the EU to be the largest investor in the country with more than 700 companies with European capital operating in Azerbaijan and stated the volume of the European investments to exceed $ 20 billion in Azerbaijan.

Financial Chain Corporation was represented by Zaur Gadirov, Managing Partner and Nargiz Mammadova, PR Manager at the Business Forum.

The participants discussed prospects for stepping up trade cooperation between Azerbaijan and the EU, as well as business and investment opportunities in the country.
