An important innovation that will have to be reckoned with

Significant changes have taken place in the legislation of Kazakhstan regarding the rules for obtaining an individual identification number (IIN). IIN is necessary for receipt of state and non-governmental services in various organizations of the Republic of Kazakhstan. For example, in addition to employment, IIN is required for registration of a legal entity, opening a bank account, obtaining EDS, etc.

Until February, 2024 it was possible to obtain IIN by power of attorney without personal presence. In accordance with recent changes in legislation, the personal presence of a foreigner when obtaining an IIN has become mandatory.

Such changes may become a reason for foreign entrepreneurs not to create a legal entity in Kazakhstan. But do not hurry to give up the idea of registering a business in Kazakhstan if you cannot come to Kazakhstan in a suitable time to obtain an IIN.
