The employment rate is the percentage of the workforce in the country that is employed, while the unemployment rate is the percentage of the population that is currently without a job. These two rates are calculated by the National Statistics Office or the Bureau of Labour Statistics in countries.
According to the National Statistics Office of Georgia, the unemployment rate in the country decreased by 2.5% in the first quarter of 2022 in comparison to the same period in 2021 and dropped to 19.4%. In 2022, the number of employed people grew by 3% (43.500) as compared to the same period of the previous year.
The number of job vacancies published from August 2022 to January 2023 (jobs.ge) was 40.531, being 24.3% higher in comparison with the same period of 2021 and 2022. This number increased in January 2023 by 19% compared to December 2022.
The number of people getting a monthly salary in January 2023, as compared to the same period in 2022, increased by 2.5% and 10.7% from the corresponding period in 2021. In 2023, the share of people receiving a monthly salary up to 599 GEL amounted to 26.7%, which was 6.5% less than in the same period in 2022 and 7.7% lower than in the same period of 2021.
In January 2023, a monthly salary of 2,400 GEL and higher amounted to 17.9%, which is 4.2% more than in 2022 and 6.9% higher than in 2021.
The number of people receiving a monthly salary of 9.600 GEL and higher, increased by 26.9% in 2023, compared to 2022 and 78.9% in 2021. A monthly salary of 9.600 GEL and more amounted to 1.5% in January 2023.
Thus, employment indicators and the amount of salary increased in 2023 as compared to 2022 in Georgia.
