FCHAIN Corporation is closely following the financial landscape, and the recent official launch of the digital tenge in Kazakhstan has caught our attention.
The launch ceremony took place during a presentation at the Financial Congress of Kazakhstan. The inaugural transaction using the digital tenge was conducted by Binur Zhalenov, the Chairman of the National Payment Corporation.
Zhalenov shared insights into the innovative technology behind the digital tenge, emphasizing its integration with existing payment cards. This integration allows users to make digital tenge transactions worldwide through platforms like Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and others. Notably, this marks the world’s first debit payment card linked to an account in the Central Bank’s digital currency. Zhalenov expressed optimism about the global applicability of this experience, emphasizing their willingness to share it with international colleagues.
It’s worth mentioning that the “Digital Tenge” project underwent a preliminary launch to test the viability of the concept in 2021. Subsequent research in 2022 involved testing the platform with real consumers and businesses to ensure its practicality. FCHAIN looks forward to observing how this development shapes the financial landscape in Kazakhstan and potentially influences digital currency strategies worldwide.
