Georgia’s Energy Exchange to Suspend Intraday Trading - FCHAIN

Georgia’s Energy Exchange will temporarily suspend operations of its intraday market from October 1, 2026, to July 1, 2027, following a decision adopted by the Government of Georgia on September 8.

The decision follows limited activity in the intraday market. During the transitional period, market participants have shown a stronger preference for the day-ahead market, particularly due to its price formation mechanism.

Throughout the suspension period, Georgia’s Energy Exchange will continue to operate the day-ahead market. According to the government’s decision, intraday market operations are scheduled to resume on July 1, 2027.

The measure forms part of Georgia’s transitional electricity market framework and reflects the current level of market participation and trading activity.
