As of 1 July 2026, the regulations regarding employment for international students in Poland have changed.
Student status alone no longer automatically grants the right to work without a work permit.
Students who may work without a work permit include:
- Students enrolled at public universities;
- Full-time (on-site) students studying at higher education institutions approved by the Polish government.
International students studying at institutions that are not included on the approved list must obtain the appropriate work permit before taking up employment.
You can check the list of eligible universities on the MSWiA (Ministry of the Interior and Administration) section of the official Polish government website (gov.pl).
This change makes choosing the right university in Poland even more important for prospective international students.
