FChain Georgia Attends Information Sessions Organized by the International Organization for Migration - FCHAIN

FChain Georgia attended high-level information sessions organized by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Georgia.

FChain Georgia attended an informational meeting organized by the International Organization for Migration (IOM). The main topic of the session was the newly implemented regulations regarding the employment and self-employment of foreign nationals in Georgia.

Approximately 130 representatives from various sectors participated in the event, including large, medium, and small businesses. During the meeting, the changes that came into force on March 1, 2026, in the field of labor migration were discussed in detail. These changes affect both employers and foreign nationals employed or engaged in entrepreneurial activities in Georgia.

Under the new regulations, a foreign national seeking employment or self-employment in Georgia is required to obtain a work authorization issued by the State Agency for Employment Promotion. After that, they must apply for a D1 category immigration visa or the appropriate type of residence permit.

Working without a valid work authorization will result in fines for both the employer and the foreign national.

For us, it was particularly important to gain an in-depth understanding of the new legal framework and to better comprehend the obligations imposed on businesses.

FChain welcomes such initiatives that promote awareness, transparency, and effective cooperation between the private sector and international organizations. We believe that this kind of dialogue is essential for developing a strong and balanced labor migration system in Georgia.
