9 May - Victory Day over fascism

Victory Day is the day when the Great Patriotic War (1941–1945) ended. On the night of May 8-9, 1945, German general Wilhelm Keitel signed the act of unconditional surrender, thereby ending the Great Patriotic War with victory over fascism. Victory Day is celebrated in post-Soviet countries and other states that participated in the Second World War.

During the years of the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945), the people of Azerbaijan showed great heroism and bravery both on the front and rear fronts, and more than 700 thousand brave sons and daughters of Azerbaijan went to the front. Azerbaijani divisions have passed the glorious battle path from the Caucasus to Berlin. The role of Azerbaijani oil was one of the important factors of the victory.

The services of the people of Azerbaijan who fought bravely and those who sacrificed themselves on the front line will not be forgotten and will be an example of patriotism for future generations.
